45 High Street

Scottish Border

The driving theory test centre in Galashiels is in a listed building on the High Street, which was once an old bank. The building also houses a youth charity amongst other organisations.

A train station will be opening soon in Galashiels town centre, as part of the 30 mile new Waverley line between Edinburgh and Tweedbank. The new line will follow the original Waverley line which was closed in 1969 as part of wider cuts by British Rail.

Buses stop on the High Street outside Iceland, which is just a short walk from the Galashiels theory test centre. A new bus station is currently being built to accommodate travellers once the new station is open.

If you're arriving at the centre by car, there is a car park on the High Street with more than 120 spaces and a maximum charge of £2.

Over 1500 people a year take their theory test here, nearly three times as many as in Fort William, with a pass rate of 64%, five percent higher than the average across the UK. You can help to keep that average up!
